We met Amy Burd at an open house she was having 3 years ago when we were starting to look at moving. Her friendliness and understanding of our needs at that time led us to contact her again when we were in a better position to buy a house in Des Moines. She was a pleasure to work with throughout the whole process. She was always willing to give advice, but never pushy — as we were trying to make a decision. She always put our needs first. As a newly married couple living with in-laws we were very much ready to start looking for a house…even if that meant looking during the snowy and cold holiday season. We were referred to Amy by a former co-worker of hers at Iowa Realty. Some words that easily describe Amy (that really do very little justice) would be warm, knowledgeable, funny, and caring. From the minute we met her, we both felt totally at ease knowing she would be the one to help us find our new home. She took two clueless and overwhelmed rookies, and turned us into informed first-time buyers. During our search we encountered our fair share of O.M.G. moments! Amy was laughing right along with us, keeping us calm and reassuring us that “not every house will be like this!” When we (finally) found the house for us, my husband and I were divided about whether or not to put an offer in. My husband had his checkbook out, while I was feeling a bit hesitant on making such a huge decision. Amy walked through all of the pros and cons with us and came up with a solution that worked best for both of us. Amy was at every inspection and kept us updated when we couldn’t attend them ourselves. She helped us through loan preparations and was there with us at our signing. We often told her that we trusted her with our lives, and with this being our first family home, we really were. I would absolutely NEVER hesitate to recommend Amy to anyone looking to buy or sell their home. Anyone who does will be treated professionally and passionately from start to finish.
